FESTIVAL HISTORY

Tamara Poddubnaya first visited Gould Academy in the spring of 2007, when she at once saw the potential of this All-Steinway School and its small-town location as a perfect place for bringing promising young pianists together for intensive study: superb teaching, practice, and performance facilities in a quiet, friendly community, nestled in the mountains of western Maine.

Less than two months later, the first season of Music without Borders was underway, bringing together a truly international group of students who performed for a growing audience of admiring local residents and summer visitors. Over the years, many students have returned for several Festivals and made great friends among themselves, as well as with members of the Bethel community. Several students have returned during the regular school year to present Steinway Series recitals at Gould.
